The perfect idea for your basement remodeling is to turn your basement into a family room. If a large family room where the entire family can hang around after a hard day at work or school seems out of reach in your present house, consider a basement finishing to give you the family room that you’ve always wanted! Your family will love having a safe haven that they can retreat to when they want to spend time with each other. You’ll see quality family time dramatically improve!
Your new family room will need warmer peachy colors to make up for the loss of natural light inside the basement. Forget the funky purple - dark colors will make a basement look even darker. If natural ventilation is insufficient, make provision for adequate artificial lighting. Your home theater can get away with low lighting, but your family room will have to be bright and cheerful.
Use carpets to hide unseemly bumps or irregularities in the flooring. Make sure there is plenty of storage space and lots of book shelves all around. Hanging lights are an absolute no-no because ceiling height is so limited. Consider recessed lighting that’s fitted into false ceiling to save on space.
